Hallie Gebel

Senior Writer

Hallie once fully planned to be a TV news reporter. While earning a B.S. in Journalism from Ohio University, she spent some real time in the broadcast world, and came away with one very clear realization: it was *not* her thing. That moment of clarity led her to do what she does best — disappear into a really freaking good TV show: Mad Men. Somewhere between the pitch meetings and Peggy Olson talking her way into the copy room, something clicked. Here was a job built on noticing what people want, finding the words that make them feel it, and caring way too much about a single line. She realized “I can do that for sure.” And she’s been chasing that feeling ever since.

Over the past decade, that chase has taken her through children’s publishing, fashion, home decor, edtech, retail, and so much more. Every brand had its own dialect, and every one taught her the same lesson: the best copy comes from listening first and writing second.

Today, Hallie is Bonfire Red’s first full-time copywriter, switching between industries and voices, sometimes before lunch. At heart, she’s a noticer, connector, and idea translator. Her favorite part of the job is the moment an idea clicks and lands with someone on the other end. It’s the same spark that pulled her out of the newsroom, and it hasn’t let up since.
