The Idea Foundry is Columbus’ premiere makerspace, and creative environment providing classes, training, and access to various tools and technology.
Form & Function
The launch location of the Idea Foundry was in Columbus, Ohio, with the intent to expand into other like-markets throughout the country. Their brand promise is; to empower artists and makers with the means necessary to create, to provide a space where like-minded individuals come together as a community, and to be at the heart of innovation within each city.
We were asked to rebrand the foundry to help properly tell their brand story as well as create a CMS driven website to manage their wide array of classes and events.
We created a fun, energetic and inclusive brand ecosystem that will act as a model when the Idea Foundry expands to other locations across the country. The holistic brand is inclusive to every type of maker from blacksmiths and welders to IT professionals and computer artists.
Built to Grow
As their name suggests, we built their new brand entirely from foundational elements. The logo consists of geometric shapes that harken back to the educational wooden building block toys from the 30s. The color palette is derived from the three primary colors of red, blue and yellow, pointing back to the base structural elements of art and design.
